After the Director of Service Learning introduced me to the Global Services Director, we set up a time to meet so that we could plan and figure out how to incorporate the Barefoot Ideology into our school.

I proposed to them PHASE 1 (Awareness) and PHASE 2 (Fundraising, Giving Back) and we discussed different ways on how to go about starting our movement.

We came up with several ideas, but the most notable were:

  1. Hold a Skype Call with a Night School there and the 8th Grade World Cultures Class.
  2. Bring Bunker Roy (Founder of Barefoot) or Meagan Fallone (CEO) to speak at the Haverford School

The Global Services Director, also a Spanish teacher, has held skype calls like these with a Spanish School and his own Spanish Class.

So my next steps were:

  1. Talk with Lara (Lauren Remedios) about the ideas we had discussed.
  2. Introduce World Cultures Class teacher to the Barefoot College and see her thoughts on this idea.

Dear All,

Please see below for a note from our Director of Social Services and Learning. My school is quite interested in creating options to collaborate with the Barefoot College. As discussed below, Ms. Loos and I will be setting up a time to speak this week, and I see it as a great opportunity to give her a couple of good suggestions that would bring this organization closer together with my school. Please reply with a couple of suggestions, as it would help while meeting with Ms. Loos. 

As Laura and I had discussed earlier, another great opportunity that I would love to capitalize on, is the option of Mr. Bunker Ji or any other member of the Barefoot College to speak at my school. While mentioning this idea with Mrs. Nelson, our Middle School Dean of Students, she was delighted to have someone over and will give me a couple convenient dates that might work for the school.
